Rhymefest tells the story of a b-boy anthem he did with Just Blaze at Baseline. After hours of tweaking his flow, he couldn’t figure out how to best approach the track. It even made him question himself as a rapper. When he returned to Chicago, he came up with the idea of bringing a b-boy crew into the studio while recording. It worked, the pressure was gone and he was able to finish the song. He later performed it to a rocking crowd at Lollapalooza and saw everything he had envisioned for the song.

Rhymefest’s El Che dropping May 18. And it is worth the wait.

People refer to Emilio as the “Charlie Rose of hip hop”. He asks questions that a really knowledgeable fan would ask. But then he asks uncomfortable questions too, almost as if he’s completely oblivious to whatever situation he’s asking about. Brilliant really.

But just for the entertainment value alone (and the free publicity he would get), I want to see him interview a really volatile personality one day, and ask the wrong question.
